Virgin Valley High School Seniors and Mesquite Police Team Up for the 15th Annual Grad Night5/14/2019 Mesquite, NV – The Senior Class of 2019 will set out on new adventures in life and many wonderful and fulfilling careers. The Mesquite Police Department would like to make sure their journey after graduation begins in a safe and exciting way. The Mesquite Police Department will provide the graduating class a fun filled night and a safe location to celebrate after graduation ceremonies. The evening will consist of entertainment, food, and many activities designed for the graduates. Members of the Virgin Valley High School senior class along with Mesquite Police Officers will be contacting local Mesquite businesses to ask for donations, which will fund the event’s many activities and safe environment. Private donations from the public are also greatly appreciated. This entire event is funded by donations and cannot take place without the generous help of our community. The grad party will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 at The City of Mesquite Recreation Center. The doors will be open from 9:00 PM until midnight. The doors are locked from midnight to 5:00 AM, attendees are not allowed to leave without being escorted by a parent, but we strongly encourage no one to leave during the event. “The Mesquite Police Department wants to give the graduating seniors a safe and fun environment for an evening that many graduates will remember for the rest of their lives,” said Chief Chesley MaQuade. “Every year the officers, staff and parents have enjoyed spending quality time with the local seniors and making sure their night is safe and memorable.” This will be the 15th year the police department has put on the event with the assistance of the City of Mesquite, Mesquite businesses and the wonderful citizens of our community. Posted by Nicholas Montoya MESQUITE, NV (Dept. of Athletics & Leisure Services) - The Mesquite Police Department (MPD), the Department of Athletics and Leisure Services along with the Virgin Valley Elementary School PTO is hosting a Bicycle Rodeo. On Thursday, May 16, 2019 the City of Mesquite Police Department, Department of Athletics & Leisure Services along with in coordination with the Virgin Valley Elementary School Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) will be conducting a 5 station bicycle safety course (rodeo). This special event will help our children in the community know the do’s and don’ts of riding their bicycles on and off the roads. To develop the needed skills necessary to survive when a potential hazard exists. “Summer break is right here and we want our kids to be as safe as possible when riding through the City,” said Shannon Hughes, PTO President. The information below is provided to assist in educating our children on the rules of the road.
Working with the State of Nevada and The RTC of Southern Nevada the Department of Athletics and Leisure Services has received a Donation/Grant of around 750 helmets to hand out to each participants of the Bike Rodeo on May 16, 2019. “We want to thank the State of Nevada (NDOT) Nevada Department of Transportation and especially the (RTC) Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada for the Helmets, the Mesquite Police Department and the PTO for allowing us to be involved, the Mesquite Police Department will teach and guide the children to be as safe as possible for bicycle safety during these summer months”, said Nicholas Montoya, Director of Athletics & Leisure Services.
